Diana Palmer aka Susan Kyle always comes through with a great love story, but I wasn't sure she could pull off Science Fiction.I was so happy to read this series. I had read the Moracai Battalion years ago but wasn't able to find the final two books in print. I was in love with the relationship between Madelyne and her commander, but it didn't look like it would have a happy ending after all. Between the prejudice and physical problems and then to find out the commander wasn't even showing his true face. If you like a true love story here it is, enjoy.

I really quite loved the first Morcai Battalion book -- I actually listened to it on Audio which might have made a difference for me. The second book was neat...but in that one you started to see some disfunction between the story lines. This book did the same thing.
I love the idea behind these books. I think the base story is intruiging...and written differently would make a fabulous serious of books. However, I rather thought the style of writing was dis-jointed and somewhat juvenile. The characters that I read about in the first book where not the same characters in this book. Many of the big characters from the first two books (stern for example) made hardly no appearance in this book. The way Komack just poofed off was explained, but dissapointing. There was also a fair amount of joviality in this book...and while I understand that this book was the happy ending to the story...it really didnt seem to fit.
SO -- the long and the short of this. I loved the first book...I think the story had alot of potential...and it came to a rather flat end with this. It was alot of wasted potential. Oh Well.
To anyone who wants a great sci-fi series..THIS IS THE ONE.. I sincerely hope that there are more books written I certainly will buy...
I hope there are more installments to this series because I found myself slowing down and taking breaks because I didn't want the book to end. A great romance that had to overcome significant obstacles. Start with the first book but you might as well order all of them so you can move on quickly.
Although sci fi fiction is not my favorite genre, I loved, loved, loved this book. As well as the entire trilogy. It incorporates far more than just an entertaining story, rich, relative characters, along with a uniquely different plot. Diana Palmer is a true craftsman when it comes to the art of writing. The way she tells the story mesmerizes. I'd give it two more stars if I could.
I originally purchased the first book (The Morcai Battalion) by audiobook - since then I have listened to it many many times and it never gets old. I had no idea there were two more books!!! I literally read both books in a day and a half!!! Riveted. All three are page turners, and I had to MAKE myself turn off my kindle and go to sleep - the entire trilogy was, I have to say, one of the best I have EVER read!!!! Sci-fi themes, action, suspense, romance and brilliant twists and turns at every step! I rate this 10 out of ten any day of the year!!!! The best buy in books I have ever read!!!! ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!!!!!
Totally exciting ending to The Morcai Trilogy! Definitely worth the hunt for this title under the author's real name. Pen name is Diana Palmer on Audible.com. Series starts with the Morcai Batalian then ccontinues with The Recruit The Morcai Batalian before ending with this book. I definitely suggest reading them in order (it makes more sense, you get more jokes that way). Romance or Sci-fi Reader will enjoy this book.
If you want to read this trilogy, start with the first book The Morcai Battalion. This is a good series. Dr. Madeline Ruszel saves lives, that is what she does and she goes beyond the call of duty to do so. Combine that with a great sense of humor, she drives her commanders slightly crazy and makes everyone her champion. Invictus is the last of the series, so save it until you have the others read. Why did I choose 4 stars instead of 5? It is good but 5 only goes to the best of the best and there are few of those, so 4 is still top line.
